Project Description

Bladen County Detention was the first CM at Risk project for Bladen County. The 67,000-sf compound is the combination of a 225 bed Detention Center, Law Enforcement Center, and Emergency 911 Call Center. The detention area includes intake and booking, detention dayrooms and cells, centralized control room, magistrate’s offices, kitchen, medical wing, and video visitation and video arraignment. The law enforcement area includes Sheriff’s offices, training rooms, and evidence storage. The 911 call center includes space for 6 call stations and associated equipment.

The detention area housing consists of 105 pre-fabricated steel cells stacked 2-stories. Pre-fabrication of cells in a controlled environment allows for better quality control and the ability to expedite schedule. The project team saved an estimated two months of project schedule through the use of pre-fabricated cells and BIM modeling.

“Throughout this project, Bordeaux demonstrated professionalism, technical expertise, and a strong focus on safety. Bordeaux approached its role as a partner with Bladen County and maintained close communication from the design phase of the project until its successful completion.”
