Project Description
The Duke Telcom Building Systems Renovation project provided unique challenges as it included complete system renovations that were on-going simultaneously. Renovations included complete electrical and HVAC replacement, new Fire Alarm system, and new Fire Proofing system installation. A temporary switch panel was used to provide electricity in the occupied building while completely replacing the old electrical system.
Improvements to the Duke OIT Technology Engagement Center were also completed during the Building Systems Renovation project. Demolition and complete restoration of the first floor of the building included adding a new conference room, meeting room, and workspace. Located in the Technology Engagement Center, the Innovation Co-Lab Studio is a 2,000 sf Studio featuring one of the largest openly accessible 3D Printing Facilities in Higher Education. The printers are powered by a cloud service, allowing the Duke Community the ability to print from anywhere.
