In 2003, Bordeaux completed a 70,000 SF renovation of East Garner Middle School, and is now CMAR for the building’s modernization. The East Garner Magnet Middle School project will consist of a comprehensive campus renovation and expansion. The updated campus will support a 1,248 traditional student capacity (1,450 core) middle school, totaling approximately 245,059 SF.
The project is planned in phases, which means that the existing school will remain fully operational during construction. The first phase prioritizes completion of the competition and softball fields, including associated earthwork and grading, prior to the start of building addition construction.
Following phases include:
- (Building B) Construction of a new, one-story addition, which features a new main entry, secure vestibule, cafeteria, auditorium, classroom pods, and flexible learning spaces
- (Building E) Full renovation for the Visual Arts program;
- Limited renovations to Buildings A, C, D, and F, which are focused on fire alarm, electrical, and security upgrades.
The new building utilizes a steel frame structural system with brick, aluminum composite panels, storefront systems, CMU in high-durability areas, and low-slope roofing. The project is projected to begin Q4 2027 with Final Completion in Q3 2030.
