Located within the center of the UNC Chapel Hill Medical Campus, the North Carolina Eye Bank Multidisciplinary Surgical Skills Laboratory occupies 3,500 square feet. Working closely with the University’s Facility Planning Department, Bordeaux completed extensive renovations to transform the area into an instructional surgical skills laboratory complete with a surgery simulator system and histology lab. Future surgeons have access to robotic stations and anatomic computer based simulators through nineteen (19) works stations. The lab includes three full body surgical stations and 16 cadaveric head or skull surgical stations. These stations allow didactic, simulation and cadaveric based surgical education in eye, ear and neurosurgery.

Bordeaux Construction Company handled the challenges with professionalism and aplomb. Building users reported no major concerns above and beyond the typical disruption from construction. The project finished within a reasonable time period. Bordeaux was an excellent ally in coordinating the installation of owner furnished audio visual systems and custom casework. Coordination and communication with Bordeaux during the project was streamlined and clear.
