This 2-story, 30,000 sf addition to North Brunswick High School included 13 classrooms, four labs, and a chorus room that also serves as a community place. Given the timing of the project, it was imperative that the campus stay active throughout construction. Coordination with the school superintendent, as well as appropriate project stakeholders, for day-to-day activities, signage and wayfinding, athletic and after-hours events, and traffic was extremely important.

Given the active campus, limiting noise producing activities outside testing windows and other school functions was critical. Coupled with this, our team had strict adherence to limiting interaction to only project appointed staff with no student interaction. As with all Bordeaux jobsites, strict upkeep of this site was maintained through the life of the project, ensuring cleanliness and order through dust mitigation, containment of hazards, and jobsite badging for efficient proof of site safety orientation and behavior protocol.

Sustainable building practices for this addition included diversion of jobsite waste stream from the local landfill utilizing recycling and lean construction practices. Since this project, Brunswick County Schools has been a repeat client including Brunswick County Athletic Improvements and Lincoln Elementary School projects.

Through the subcontractor package preparation, the pre-bid meeting, the formal bidding process, and into the actual construction, we have found Bordeaux Construction to be highly professional with excellent results.
