Done in collaboration with Moseley Architects, this project replaced the existing Durham County Youth Home with a new secure 36-bed facility on an existing 8.1-acre site. The New Durham County Youth Home project consists of two phases: complete demolition of the existing building and construction of a new, 41,055 SF minimum-security youth home facility. The new facility consists of multiple housing units for male and female youth. The new building has reinforced concrete foundations with spread column footings, load-bearing masonry, steel joist, and a TPO roof system.

This project will be LEED Gold Certified. In addition to all new mechanical systems, a geothermal heat exchanger loop was installed. Solar panels and EV charging stations also highlight the sustainable construction efforts for the new Durham County Youth Home.
