Consisted of the conversion of the existing Well’s residence into a renovated park office, construction of a new 1,339sf comfort station, a 1,250sf glue-lam picnic shelter, and nature trails. The 13-acre site, located in the Class IV Falls Lake watershed, presented several challenges including 13 sediment basins to limit or eliminate sediment and nutrient run-off. The existing entrance culvert required a “pump around” to complete installation of (2) new 48″ CMP culverts.

Several green building methods were incorporated into the project including: photovoltaic solar panels, solar LED parking lot lighting, pervious concrete paving, recycled materials, extensive use of natural lighting, and use of locally manufactured building products. One particularly innovative feature was a prototype waste water treatment system which was a first of its kind for North Carolina. Historical renovations included re-using bluestone from the house in the natural play area, reusing existing wood floors and installing a new mantle from rough-sawn lumber from the barn.

My experience with Bordeaux through this project was very positive. Bordeaux met deadlines, had an attention to detail, conducted sound business practices and listened to our needs as a client. They had high standards for their work but continued a common sense approach which I truly respected. I have developed a sense of appreciation for Bordeaux’s dedication to communication and professionalism throughout this project.
