New 5-story 70,000sf building with steel frame, and masonry exterior. This project is located in downtown Rockingham on a tight site with extensive sitework and concrete retaining walls. The building provides 5 courtrooms, judges’ chambers, jury rooms, offices for the Clerk of Court and bailiffs, four elevators with security features, a mobile storage shelving, and public queuing areas plus a detention area complete with 24 cells and a sallyport. The facility has a state-of-the-art security system with x-ray machines, card readers, wireless cameras and a video first appearance system connected to the existing jail. The building has been designed to save energy with automatic controls for interior and exterior lighting and the HVAC system.
